J. W. Goethe Universität Frankfurt (GUF)

Goethe University Frankfurt am Main is – with currently more than 45,000 students and 650 professors – the third largest university of Germany. The topics in teaching and research range from humanities, social sciences, business and law, health sciences and natural sciences including computer science. The two participants in CELTA from GUF are with the Physics Department, which has 1300 students enrolled. They come from the Physics Institute and have very close cooperation with the Biophysics Institute and the Medical Department of the university.

The Physics Institute, with six professors, is dedicated to research in solid state physics. One of the central topical themes is terahertz physics and technology which has emerged out of ultrafast laser spectroscopy as a strong field of fundamental and applied research.
